This project was conducted as a 3 week / 15 hours design & prototype exercise in my Masters studies. I was partnering with 2 other designers.
task
"Create an app for travelers. It can be anything, but has to be valueable and adept to the specific use case."
problem
nobody wants to be spied on. However, the about of spy cams found hidden in hotel rooms is alarmingly high. Due to recent technological developments, they are extremely affordable and increasingly hard to detect for an unaware user. This is why we decided to approach this problem:
action
grasping the situation (quickly)
We created personas, discussed potential pain points when travelling and decided to tackle a specific problem: privacy in hotel rooms. The according “How might we” questions are:
How might we teach users about hidden spy cams in hotel rooms so that they can take action?
How might we enable users to find such spy cams so that they can identify untrustworthy hotels?
ideation & concept
Through crazy 8s, quick technology reasearch, scribbles and brainstorming, we were convinced, that AI image recognition was suitable to find suspicious items in a room. It could also be used to check these items in detail, so the user "cleans" the room of potential hiding spots.
prototype development
Based on the wireframe and moodboard we developed a more detailed visual prototype of a possible minimal viable app in figma.
Result
Despite the short timeframe of this project, we managed to showcase:
quick development of an app concept that suits users needs
understanding of AR and how to design for it
wireframing and UI prototype
animated prototype
